Abstract
Brachydactyly implies a short finger owing to shortness of a phalanx or a metacarpal: This anomaly is rare but of special interest since it was the first example of Mendelian inheritance to be demonstrated in man. We have. presented two cases of bilateral symmetrical brachydactyly. The first case is thirteen years Old female, who has bilateral shortening of the 4th and 5th metacarpals: accompanying bilateral shortening of the 4th metatarsals and unilateralt short first met¡þatarsal bone in left foot. The second case is 22 years old female, who has bilat¡þeral shortening of the 5th middle phalanges. In both cases, shortening of the fingers and toes causes no complaint, other than that of deformity. Unexpectedly they represent no evidence of familial histories and other combined anomalies.
